When someone does this to you?
It's generally good etiquette to return the smile and not look at them like they have three heads or scowl at them. I do realize that we all have our bad days and sometimes do NOT feel like smiling back. But when someone smiles at you at least give a half-hearted attempt at a smile back.

Don't worry, if you ever smile at me, I promise I will smile back. And, in fact, if anyone smiles at me, I smile back. I am a good girl.
How could someone not smile back at you?
I don't know Lara! I mean I know there are times when I'm in a pissy mood or whatever but if someone smiles at me you can be sure I smile back. Or at least try to. But it seems to happen quite a bit around here. When I smile at someone they either ignore me or look at me like I'm crazy.

I'm smiling right back at ya! I had an old lady stick her tongue out at me once when I smiled at her in the grocery store! lol!

Great lesson!!! Too bad more people don't read your blog. When are you going to post etiquette lessons for 3 year olds so I do not have to run out of store when my son says to a lady, "mom, she stinks and is fat"!! (true story)
