An Early Christmas Present

This post is an early Christmas present for my niece Bradie , since she's the one who asked about this in the first place. Merry Christmas Bradie! Love you and miss you.

When I was little my mom was a stay at home mom. As my younger brother and I hit our Jr. High and High School years mom decided to go to work. She went to work at a school for handicapped children as a teachers aide.

My mom is an amazing lady. She has one of the biggest and softest hearts you will ever meet. This was the perfect place for her. She loved those kids. Each of them crawled into her heart and made a special place there. The children she worked with had Autism or similar challenges.

There was one little girl who had Rett Syndrome. I remember mom would talk of this little girl often. Mom made up a special song for her. She loved the movie The Little Mermaid and she was always looking down at the ground. Mom made this song to get her to look up and hold her head up. She also sang it to her grandchildren and they remember it.

I got mom to sing it to my daughter the other day and recorded it on my camera. Mom says she doesn't know where the tune comes from but she came up with the words.

Enjoy.

I love my mom. She has amazing Faith. If I can have just a little bit of the faith she has I think I'll do o.k.

(Oh and if you know my mom and see this. Don't tell her. She'd die if she knew I posted this on the internet. But it's too good not to share.)

Oh, S. I know you already love that you have it on video, but this will be a treasure for years to come. You're preserving so much for your kids and their kids and so on.

I've always loved the stories you've told about your mom. She sounds like an incredible person. I wish I knew her.

Thank you for sharing this sweet moment and the song. Tears are rolling down my cheeks because I am so happy to have known your wonderful mother and her singing this song is so her and beautiful. I think this song should be published. It is perfect for our little ones and even us big ones. Love all you Nielsen kids and your families. Ruby ps Love Norma's siblings too.
