Google it. It happened. Twice. One of the 70 year olds who gave birth, gave birth to twins. Yes, twins! And in 2006 there was a 67 year old who also gave birth to twins. According to the story on msnbc.com.
I heard a blip about this story yesterday and was amazed. So this morning I typed the words "70 year old gives birth" into that trusty little Google search bar and found out more.
It is her first child. She's been trying for over 50 years to become pregnant. She and her husband conceived the child through IVF.
I cannot even imagine. You go mama.

My brain has now exploded.
Man, I'm tired enough as it is at 29. I can't imagine 70. It exhausts me just thinking about it. I think I need a nap.
I heard about this on the news!! Could you even imagine?! You would never see them get married or have babies or hardly anything else--I think it's sad.
I don't know if this depresses me or gives me hope. It's a toss-up. LOL
Honestly, I think it's sort of irresponsible. They are towards the end of their lifespan and there will be a child without parents at some point. It just seems like a selfish thing to do this late in life.
that is def. interesting. have lots of opinions, but not sure about sharing them. LOL
I can't understand b/c that hasn't been my experience of course. I feel bad though that some people yearn for that so much they will do anything to get there.
wow, so glad I am done LOL
I really have no words. I just cannot imagine. I'm starting to think I am too old to have another one, and I'm half her age!
I agree with Kristina.
I hope they have lots of family surrounding them who can step in when they die and the child is left without parents... :(
I know that a lot of Grandparents wish they could have their grandkids first, but seriously? Isn't there a more responsible way to go about it? And twins, at 70? Way to end your life early...
I totally saw that on the news yesterday and about died. I mean, don't you just kind of give up at some point - like menopause? I'm just sayin'. Good for her, though. Way to pursue your dreams.
During my fourth (and last) pregnancy at the ripe old age of 28, I was convinced that I was going to stand up one morning and everything was just going to fall right out onto the floor. Can you imagine 67???? What a woman!!!!
I love your blog. Thanks for stopping by mine. Can I add you to my blogstalking list?
But I lost some of my GRAND parents when they were in their 70's!!
