An Open Letter

To the nice lady in the bathroom at the Conference Center.
Thank you so much for your complimentary comments on my smile. It was so sweet and nice of you to say "Thank you for sharing your smile."

Thank you for following my etiquette lesson #1 ;) even if you don't read this blog....which you probably don't. Thank you for listening to the Prophet and following his counsel.
Thank you for being an example to me.

And how could you know that my smile is the one area that I really don't like about myself? It's the one thing that I could change if I could. (Well my teeth anyway.) So to have you say the things you said meant more to me than you will ever know.

May good things and many more smiles come your way.

Sincerely,

I was all ready for some sarcasm.

That was sweet. I truly think we don't know the power our words have on each other - for better or worse. And who knows, maybe she really needed a smile that day.

Keep smiling!

Isn't it funny how truly genuine and nice comments can sometimes catch us off guard. At least, this caught me off guard. I was expecting something sarcastic. I need to quit being so cynical.

Thanks for sharing that.

How sweet is that. One of my favorite things to do is give random strangers compliments! Yes, really.
I think you have a great smile BTW!

Random compliments are the best thing ever! You go, girl!

Lara Neves said...

Those kind of compliments are the best, because they are always sincere. A perfect stranger doesn't have any reason to lie to you! :)

I always try to say the things that I think like "I love that shirt" or "I love your hair." I know I appreciate it when those things are said to me. Thanks for the reminder!

it's really the little things that matter. i needed a reminder to say things like that more often, too. it's just good karma.

This is a great reason to smile and be nice to other people---you never know how it will affect that person...

So, cool.

Love your quote at the top. I would change my teeth, too, so I can imagine what a sweet compliment this would be for you.

It is so nice to hear about kind acts...it is so rare these days!! I was trying to cut down a dead tree in my yard with a little hand saw, and a random person saw me and brought over his chainsaw and cut it down for me. Random acts of kindness are the BEST!!!

Nice people are as rare as______. OK, I couldn't think of anything rare. But it is rare to run into a really nice person!

I can completely relate to your feelings about your smile. I am so self-conscious about my teeth too. So your post really hit home with me. :)
