Fake nails

Yes or No?

That is so funny. Discuss?

I love them on others, but on me, it just looks fake. Truly. I was raised on a farm, so I just use my hands in not a very dainty way. I dig and need my fingers free from pretty.

I am very jealous of those that can get away with it. But I have saved a lot of money though.

Discuss. That cracked me up for some reason this morning.

Don't care for them.

No! But only because I'm cheap and they're a pain in the butt. I had them put on for my wedding 13 years ago but didn't get them filled as I was supposed to before the honeymoon. I knew I was going to take them off and didn't want the extra expense.

Well, the fake nails broke through the REAL nails on the pointer fingers of each hand and I had to spend 4 hours of my honeymoon getting the dang things off. My real nails were thin and horrible for almost a year after getting the fakes off. NEVER again!

Besides- I garden and you know, get dirty and stuff, not really condusive to fakies. Now, if I were a pretty little girly girl who didn't HAVE to get her hands dirty? MAYBE I'd have the nice nails. Maybe.

Oh- and should I also say that this post has me feeling a little verclempt, Linda Richmond?

I love them, and I love having them. I can even get them cheap/free because my daughter is a cosmetology student. My nails are weak and short and ugly and they break all the time. Fakies look nice all the time with very little effort. So do I have them? No. It was a choice between nails and guitar. I chose guitar.

Oh, btw, I only like them when they are SHORT and kept up. Otherwise they look trashy.

1. they are too expensive

2. I have 4 children under the age of 6. They would last about 5 minutes!

NOOOOO!!!

They almost always look gross and once they come off, your poor nails take a year to recover.

not worth the money! Plus, sometimes people get them too fat and they look all thick and grody-ish. Reminds me of fungus.

I think painted nails are better.

oh, but if your some hip hop ghetto star and you have them like 3 inches long, than thats nice!

tried them once, my fingers fell off

don't have them on right now....taking a break.
but i like them, especially in the winter, it keeps me from picking at hang nails.
i like them short.

but i hate the every 2 week maintenance....
hence the break.

I don't personally like them, but I don't begrudge anyone who loves them.

They just look funny on my fingers & are too expensive. Plus chasing kids and wiping noses all day. I think they'd get in the way.

I like them. I don't think they are for everyone. I have them...its something I do for myself, because I like them. I don't care either way on other people!

Fake finger nails NOOOO!!! (But your are super cute). I just don't like the feeling of them. My older sister LOVES them and I don't even remember what she looks like without them. However, I do like the fake toe nails. You got me to be a fan of those.

No for me. They're too irritating. After having grown up playing piano and being required to have short nails...I can't stand anything too long. Plus, I often think they look snobbish or pretentious.

Emmy said...

No--I got them once in high school for prom. I must admit they did look great, but when it was time to take them off I soaked them and soaked them and soaked them... and well they did not really come off good at all and trashed my real nails.

Erin said...

I teach piano, and can't play with long nails. I don't even paint my nails because I am so lazy. Why am I so lazy? Discuss.

:)

I had them for years. They look great when you first start but after a while they start looking pretty trashed. Plus I just can't keep myself from playing with them. They always look dirty underneath, and they are too expensive. I grow my own out now and I think they look better and are more natural.

Kristina P. said...

I have never had them. I don't even like my nails long or painted.

I think that they can be done well, but a lot of times, they look sort of whorish.

Lara Neves said...

I had them for about a year. I was doing a trade with a nail technician to teach her daughter's voice lessons and got "free" nails and pedicures. I liked how they look, but they are so impractical...especially when one has to play the piano often, as I do.

Bonnie the Boss said...

Love how they make my hands look, but I am a bit too rough for them I have to have 7 or more replaced every 3 weeks. Way too much money!

Jillene said...

NEVAH!! I have them once--when I got married and I thought I was going to hyperventalate. I chewed them all off on the way to our Honeymoon. I don't paint my fingernails either--it feels to suffocating.

Jillybean said...

I've never had them, and I doubt I ever will. Too much upkeep and expense for me.

Not too long, kind of shorter nail with a french square tip I will admire every time. I think they look gorgeous- but I massage, and so it is NO NAILS for me ever!

wendy said...

I don't do nails---------fake or otherwise. I am too clumsy.

Lisa Summerhays said...

I think they look great if done properly but they are too dang expensive and time consuming. I'd rather spend that money on something else. Pretty much anything else.

Cranberryfries said...

I used to get them in high school for things like Prom or the Valentines ball but I haven't gotten them since and that was a long time ago.

I like the way my nails look now so for me it's just not worth the money and the crappy way they leave my real nails when they're all gone.

For others I think it's fun if they wanna. I love the look.

Missy said...

Love them! Don't have them now, but when I want to feel special, I get them. Short and french!

Brittany Marie said...

I'm going to vote No on this one. You can't type or play the piano with them and I would just pick at them anyway.

Fiauna said...

A big NO from me. Fake anything isn't good, unless you were born without the real ones--that would be bad. And, everyone knows they're fake anyway.

mCat said...

Love them. Love them. Love them.

But, I chose to give them up. Making cut backs where I can, and they were my sacrifice.

Now my fingers are just plain ugly. : (

veronica said...

I had them for a few years, but I hated the expense. I guess I'm cheap.

Love them! Actually, my good husband loves them (on me) more than I do, so I try to keep them nice for him. I'm getting new ones put on tomorrow for my bro's wedding this weekend.

Honey and Hotstuff said...

This is really a personal decision and preference.... for me I like them short and square. I have to keep them that way when i where them because of work. I have the ugliest nails in the whole world and having them done helps me feel/look more professional. Besides I don't cut my hands up as bad when I have them done.

Martha H. said...

They look good, but are an absolute pain in the butt as far as up keep goes.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

I feel I am on SNL and you're giving me a topic. ;)

I love your top quote about laughing. So true!

Fake nails? If those are your hands, yes! they are beautiful.

I am lucky, my nails are my one naturally pretty feature. But I would probably say YES if I needed some help in that area.

the Lola Letters said...

For me? NO WAY! I had them for a few year before I got married and the hubs loved them, but once we got married, and had a baby...eh. I couldn't even STAND the idea of trying to find a baby-free half and hour ever other week to keep them up. Plus, I just like me without them. It's just...me?

Besides, with all of the jewelry I wear, major nails would be a little over the top I think... ha ha!

I like them when I see them on other people though. Very pretty and like, such as the Iraq.

the Lola Letters said...

Oh, and this won't make sense to anyone else, but SOURDOUGH PANCAKES? MMMMMMMMM Get. Out. :)

the Lola Letters said...

Anyone who hasn't read a whole two posts down already...that is... ;)

tammy said...

I've always been able to grow my own, so I've never had them. And I have to keep them shorter for the piano. I like them sometimes on others, but they can't be too long or too thick. But sometimes they just gross me out because I think of the fungus that some people get. And the thought of ripping them off - ouch!

Becca said...

It's a no for me--my hubby would disagree though!

I vote no...I am a gardener, and play piano, and have no extra money. 3 good-enough reasons!
