Inquiring Minds Want to Know

Disclaimer: I'm taking this idea from Tiburon but changing it up a little. I do want to be like her and Kristina when I grow up but I don't want to seem totally lame and possibly stalkerish and do exactly the same thing.

I just sent out an email and before I sent it a box popped up telling me that "This email would be viewed as offensive by the general population. Do you still want to send it?" It had the word "butt" in it once and the word "sucked" twice. The word "sucked" was used in the sentence..."I've been sucked into face book. If you get sucked in let me know." I hit the send button.

Question: Are you offended by the words "butt" and "sucked"? Are they really that offensive as to make that email offensive to the "general population"?

Inquiring minds want to know.

No, and if people are they can suck butt. Now that's offensive.

I got all scared nearly two hours later that the comment might not be interpreted as sarcasm and a joke but it is. I'm just being silly.

I took as sarcasm. (and funny sarcasm too) I just think that people are off busy with life right now and don't have time or inclination to answer my question.

Hahahahahaha! No. I actually might put "butt" in the title of one of my posts.

I think it's funny that your email is babysitting you. :)

I'm not a fan of the word sucked...except the way you used it is fine. But, it's not like I'm offended by it.

I'm SURE I've seen more offensive language used on emails I've received. Butt and sucked are definitely not offensive. Well, maybe to some people. But not to me.

I say those words several times a day. :p

My dad had a mouth like a sailor...and I worked on a night crew with all guys for almost a yera. Those words aren't even close to offensive.

I have to admit that I said "pissed off" in front of someone's daughter, and she said, "Mommy, what' is 'pissed off'?" I was so embarassed to say the least...but it was a common phrase in my house. Yeah, that's my excuse ;o)

Never had an issue with either word. If my 5 year old son starts saying "sucks", I may change my mind. But not yet.

Personally not offended, at all. However, I do have an 8 year old that finds neither one offensive either, and that causes problems for people, say like my in-laws and mother who blanch everytime they hear either one!

Are you serious? Ummm no not at all offended, LOL!

My mom didn't like us to say "butt", so I make my kids say "bum". I said sucked in a sacrament talk once and my husband said I probably shouldn't have. Go figure.

Haha! I had to laugh at BlueViolets comment. That was a good one!

I wasn't allowed to use 'Suck' as a kid...which means I used it every chance I got. Probably the reason I don't either of these offensive!

then i would have a problem..
that would suck actually..

I want to be Kristina when I grow up, too.

butt and sucked aren't offensive to me. I try not to say them around my kids, but I am not at all offended when I hear adults use them. (Or type them.)

If "butt" and "suck" are offensive, then I am in big trouble. Suck is a part of my normal vocabulary...similar to WTF and ass, which are undoutedly more offensive than the words you used.

Now, if my kids start saying any of these, then we will have to re-evaluate my definition of offensive. :)

If I thought that butt and sucks were offensive, I'd have a bar of soap in each of my kid's mouths at least 5 or 6 times each day. No worries, friend. I think you're okay to use those words.

Neither words are offensive to me either. I wonder if they find craptastic as offensive too?

Umm... What kind of program is that???

Just SO said...

It's an email program called Eudora. What's funny is it puts little chili peppers next to emails that have "offensive" words in them.

First of all - TOTALLY not offended by those words.

Second of all - TOTALLY don't want to be me.

Trust me :)

Suck is my favorite word. I use it at church all the time. And the teenagers laugh. I'll do anything for a laugh.

I sort of think its freaky-deeky that your email program babysits you.
