Consider

Consider the Lilies of the Field

I absolutely adore this song.
It touches my heart each time I hear it.

Even more so today as I think of those children who are facing starvation in Somalia.
I am blessed.
The Lord knows me and my struggles.
He knows you and your struggles.
He loves us all.

I found the lyrics and this bit of information about they author

Consider the Lilies
by Roger Hoffman

Regarding the experience of writing "Consider the Lilies", Roger Hoffman relates the following: "...I could not contain my feelings. The loving presence who sat there with me was so powerful that I was overcome. (Indeed, for the rest of the day I felt somewhat removed from this mortal sphere). My soul vibrated with the message I had just written, for my own suffering and weakness had been taken in hand by the Wonderful Counselor, and where once there was darkness, light by light, strand by strand, He rewove the fabric of my heart with threads of purest gold, so that my afflictions and sympathies have been, in a marvelous manner, retrained to be more like Him."

Consider the lilies of the field--

how they grow, how they grow.

Consider the birds of the sky--

how they fly, how they fly.

He clothes the lilies of the field.

He feeds the birds in the sky

and He will feed those who trust Him

and Guide them with His eye.

Consider the sheep of his fold--

how they follow where he leads.

Thou the path may wind across the mountains,

He knows the meadows where they feed.

He clothes the lilies of the field.

He feeds the birds in the sky

and He will feed those who trust Him

and Guide them with His eye.

Consider the sweet tender children

who must suffer on this earth.

The pains of all of them he carried

from the day of his birth.

He clothes the lilies of the field.

He feeds the lambs of his fold

and He will heal those who trust Him

and make their hearts as gold.

He clothes the lilies of the field.

He feeds the lambs of his fold

and He will heal those who trust Him

and make their hearts as gold.

I *heart* Brakes

I have this recurring nightmare. One in which I am in some sort of vehicle and I'm slowly moving towards another vehicle or object. I have the brake pedal hard against the floor or I am pumping and pumping the brakes and I keep inexorably moving forwards.

It's horrible. One of the worst feelings ever.

Friday after running a few errands I noticed that the brakes in my Durango felt different. So I get Tyran to come and drive it to make sure it isn't all in my head. It wasn't. We pulled back into the driveway, checked the brake fluid, it was empty. I look at the driveway and noticed spots of liquid where the right back tire had been parked.

So we refilled the brake fluid and drove to the swimming pool. Upon coming back out the Durango I looked at the right back tire and there was a big old puddle of brake fluid...lovely.

Driving it with the brakes as soft as they are has been terrifying.

So this morning I took it into our mechanic. I told him he needs to fix it because this is one of my worst nightmares. And I wasn't joking.

Let's just hope the cost to fix it isn't a nightmare.

40...for reals.

I know it's difficult to believe but I'm turning 40.

I've decided to throw a big party. I don't want to wait until I'm in my 70's or 80's to invite all my friends over. Who knows if I will make until then.

I MADE IT TO 40!!
That should be excuse enough.

There will be Karaoke and a photo booth and roasting of very large marshmallows.

If you would like to come shoot me off an email and (if I know you well enough and don't feel threatened by you) I'll send you the address.

I don't need cards or gifts but if you feel like you REALLY need to bring something please bring an item that we can donate to the Food Bank. That would be awesome.

Oh, I guess you need to know the date and time for all of this awesomeness...

It will be Friday June 24th from 7 until 10 pm and we are going to have a blast!
