I'm not Buying That

So my thankful a day posts here on the blog have fallen sadly behind. And I'm tired and not feeling well so I'll hopefully start back up again in a few days.

For today I'm sharing with you a few commercials that make me NOT want to buy what it is they are advertising. It's not that they aren't good commercials with cute kids but they just bug me for some reason or another and when they come on I think "I'm not buying that!"

First commercial is for a Christmas countdown ornament. Why? Why would any parent choose to buy this and put themselves through anything close to what the commercial portrays. It's bad enough counting down the days.

Next we have a Toyota Highlander Commercial. Guess what? What I drive doesn't define me. I know that for much of the world this is not true, but I really and truly dislike this commercial. Or any form of advertising that says "If you don't have our stuff you must be lame." And what annoys me even more is the fact that they this seems to be more geared towards the kids so that they will bug their parents and tell them how uncool they are if they don't buy this. Gah.

Any commercials that make you not want to buy whatever it is they are advertising?

I think the same thing every time that Highlander commercial comes on.

I haven't seen either of those on tv yet, but that Christmas ornament would drive me batty too if it made my child do what it does to the girl in the commercial! Ack! I don't care for the Highlander commercial either. I'm thinking I'm glad I haven't seen either of these until now, lol!

I will buy anything the TV tells me to.

Ick. The Highlander commercial just makes me feel icky. Talk about entitlism. (Is that a word?)

The Hallmark one is funny...I wonder if they realize they're TOTALLY turning parents off with that one?

I had never seen the Hallmark commercial...and I'd never like to see it again. Annoying! I have seen the second and thought the same thing. How say to be defined by what you drive. That's got to be a pretty sad life.

The Toyota commercial is killing me! My 12 year-old feels so validated!
It is just wrong! LOL

i have been thinking about this same thing lately! that highlander commercial bugs me so much.
the other night, husband was watching spike tv and all of their commercials were highly offensive (and i'm not really offended that easily). gross.
the one thing i never want to buy after seeing the commercials is five hour energy. especially the new one, where the mom says she comes home from her job and starts her "second job" - and i'm pretty sure she means being a wife and mom. uh, what?

Okay, I was SOOOOOOO hoping you'd put that Highlander commercial on because it TICKS ME OFF every time I see it!!!!!!!!!!! I'll never buy one!!! I hate commercials/movies that make kids look like geniuses and parents look like ignoramuses.

Ummm, any baby doll that is guaranteed to poop, pee, or spit up...seriously? I have four kids, I don't need anything else to clean up after. Of course, I also agree with you on the Hallmark countdown ornament and I'm going to have to see the Highlander commercial, because it sounds great! :) (Totally kidding)

K, just watched the Highlander commercial... umm, yeah, even though I don't drive a mini-van I like to consider myself a geek parent with no style, therefore we drive a completely non-descript pewter Suburban, like 50% of our fellow geek parents. I'm not buying a Highlander, and if that were my kid, I'd strap him on top of the car so his friends could see just how "cool" we really are.

The Highlander commercial really irks me too. I want to make that kid eat is skinny jeans. Not really. Okay, yes I do, a little bit.

Totally with you on the Toyota Highlander one! So irritating. I've had a post in my head (for several months) about commercials that make me NOT want to buy the product. Maybe one day I'll actually do it:)

I loathe the Charmin commercials.

And Thanks to the Kia Soul commercials, I wouldn't be caught dead in that car. Every time I pass one, I can't help but look, to see if it's full of Hamsters (gerbils, mice, whatever they are).

I hate all of the seedy money lending places that say "Get the credit you deserve!" If you deserve credit, you will be able to get it from a more reputable company than that. For that matter, I hate all commercials that say borrow money for a boat, a vacation, etc. or anything else that you really shouldn't be buying if you can't pay cash for it.

I hate the Pillow Pets commercial. The tune is catchy and my kids sing it all day. I can't get it out of my head.

We don't have tv in these parts, but I saw the Highlander commercial at my parents. I would hope that any self-respecting parent wouldn't buy into what Toyota is pitching at your kid. Sheesh.
Another "not buying that" commercial for me is the Paris Hilton for Carls Jr. commercials. Didn't make me want to buy burgers, made me want to buy blindfolds and Pepto Bismol. :)

Yhe kid in the tight jeans telling his family they are dorks bugs the crap out of me!!
Also I have never seen the other comercial, but, yikes, like who needs that crap from their kids, Because they aren't all hyped up enough.

Can I just say that The Swagger Wagon commercials are awesome?

Thanks.

Oh, I can't stand most commercials, and refuse to buy products based on that :)

Also, if a commercial makes me genuinely laugh, I'll probably buy that product.

I always fast forward through commercials. They all bug. Except for the Old Spice ones.

I hate the Highlander one. Makes me grateful I don't drive a toyota.

Stop the maddness, I know exactly how you feel. That Toyota commercial is horrilbe!

I agree 100% on both of these. Huge marketing misses in my opinion... Of course, the first one MIGHT make you want to buy it for a niece or nephew just to drive your siblings crazy. You know, like that toy that is obnoxiously noisy...
