Ten Reasons Why Super Bowl Sunday means nil at our House

  1. My husband is not a big sports fan. Sports of any kind.
  2. Although I do enjoy an occasional college ball (Go University of Utah!!) game I do not care for professional sports.
  3. Especially if they are on the television. I can see the fun of actually going to a game and enjoying the "ambiance" that is there but watching it on tv is boring to me.
  4. Much of this stems from my youth and in having only one tv on in the house and Sundays it was football....all. freaking. day.
  5. I grew up back in the day when they had the instant replay for every. single. play. And it seemed like one football game took seven or eight hours to play. Gah. It could have been more than one football game and my seven year old self wasn't aware of that but it seemed like they were interminably (am I using that word right? off to Google....yes, I am) long.
  6. It's on a Sunday. Not that all we do is sit around singing hymns and reading spiritual things on Sunday. Far from it. I just dislike that it's on the Sabbath. (Hypocritical much?)
  7. I have a fairly low regard for professional athletes in general it seems like they sell their souls to be able to play a game for money. And in doing so they think this elevates them to the status of Gods and they can do whatever they please. Can you say O.J. and Tiger?
  8. The cheerleaders wear far too little clothing.
  9. I eat too much junk food as it is. I don't need another reason to have a table full of chips, cheese balls and soda to put in my mouth and add to my already sizable girth.
  10. Wardrobe Malfunctions
I do enjoy the commercials but now with YouTube I can enjoy them the next day. So I'm not missing out.

I am SO SO SO SO glad to have a husband that isn't into sports. Though I still wanted to watch it, just because I knew it was going to be everywhere. And it was a big deal with the Saints. But we didn't.

Adam isn't a huge, huge sports guy, but we did watch the SB. Meh.

I hate the super bowl. BORING! It's more fun, I guess, when you actually like one of the teams that are playing.

Enjoy me some sports on TV! Even more so when they are HD - but I have 4 boys in my house so I really have no choice

I believe I heard somewhere recently that total playing time in a football game only ends up being something like 11 minutes. Can you believe that? 11 minutes! I can. It seems like they are constantly halting play for some reason or another. I'm right there with you and refuse to watch professional sports on TV.

Well--I grew up much the same way but I love me some Football. Live or on TV it doesn't matter to me. I am a Football lover.

I really enjoyed the Super Bowl this year, mostly because I took a nap and missed the entire game.

I love football, but I also like college games more. Eric loves to watch the Seahawks play...but they rarely get televised down here in the south. We didn't even realize that superbowl was coming up until Saturday...we watched it, but the only reason I was cheering for the Colts is b/c Peyton Manning is one of the bests hosts on SNL. Gotta love a guys with a sense of humor!

I have two brothers and no sisters, so football was always big in my house. My mom always throws a big SB party. I usually take a nap or watch a movie in the other room. I do join in for the SB treats though!

And note to Martha - there was an article on that in the WSJ recently. I don't remember how much time was actually played, but it was right around that!

Recorded the Superbowl. Watched the commercials yesterday. Fast forwarded through the game. How odd! LOL

We definitely like college football, but luckily neither my husband or I are into the NFL, very good reasons you listed why not to like it

We had a great superbowl Sunday at my house. My two brothers came over for dinner and Monopoly, and the TV was OFF the entire time.

I have to agree with every. single. point. My favorite thing though, is the parking at church on Super Bowl Sunday is much better, and the sales on hot dogs, chips, and drinks for the week before is awesome.

Honestly, the game stunk anyway since the team I was rooting for lost...dangit. We watch it every year, including the year of the infamous wardrobe malfunction. It gets worse every year.

My husband is a big sports fan, and therefore watched the game. For me, it's another excuse to have a family get together. Which is okay.

This list was fantastic! I could almost say ditto to all of them. I only cared/care about sports to be social (like going to football in HS just to hang out with friends) and since my hubby doesnt care, I dont really either now. And I'm totally ok with that.

Be glad your husband doesn't care about watching sports. I fall asleep every night to the sound of the ESPN Sportscenter theme. No "playlists" for me. If you know what I mean :)

You only had one tv with football on? I had all three in my house growing up with only football all the time.
