Trouble - Update

George just came home from school. With an apology letter. A very nicely written letter that apologized for getting in his personal space and said that she shouldn't have kissed him. It also said that she will not bother him any longer. No more phone calls. She won't try to hang out with him unless he initiates it. And she said that she probably ruined their friendship by doing what she did.

The principal called George into the office and the girl read the letter to him. The principal wrote at the bottom that George was very kind and accepted her apology very gracefully. George is a very kind soul and doesn't like to see anyone hurt or upset.

McKenna also said that the girl didn't come back to class after lunch so she must have had to either spend the rest of the day in the office or she was sent home.

I think that it was handled well. I just really hope that the girl will get the help that she needs.

Wow, she sounds majorly aggressive for someone her age.
I think you handled it the right way. What she did is inappropriate for her age, and for George's personal space.

Wow. I hope this little girl takes this seriously. Poor George.

Well done. I hope this is the end of it, and that girl gets the help she needs.

Oops. Just realized I repeated you exactly. Ü

Kudos to the principal. I appreciate that you reported a positive end to this.

Being a school teacher for 7 years, I get tired of hearing parents complain about how their kids schools suck. We are trained professionals, we do want the best for all children and we want to see them be successful.

Things can always be worked out through communication I think you went through all the proper channels to get done what needed to be. I've seen too many parents make hasty decisions (ie. pull them out and put them in private/charter/home schools) when most problems can be worked through.

I will get off my "I heart public schools" soap box. The end.

That is great news! And props to the person that encouraged her to write it. Sounds like the principal has a good head on his/her shoulders.

That is kind of a hard/scary situation for you and George. Did you have the talk with him?

The whole situation is really sad. :( I hope she's in a home where they understand and dole out appropriate consequences - and not where she'll get an over the top punishment. I do hope her parents are sensible and help her not behave this way...

That was my big fear when I had to confront the parent whose child harmed mine - I was scared to death he'd be beaten or sexually abused more... Like you, though, I had to put my kid first. I worried so much about the other little boy...

I still can't get over how YOUNG these kids are to have to go through that! I think you handled the situation great---as did your kids.

I love Vanessa.

You handled it well and so did the school and George. I hope she gets any help she needs too.

Does George BELIEVE the letter or her? I'd keep her in my peripheral vision at all times for awhile...for safety, like running!

Very handled by the principal. Well handled by George, and well done Mama Bear. Now, still keep the little girl in your sights, this is not over for her. She'll just act out towards someone else......

Woo-hoo! Glad to hear that this got taken care of. It sucks that our kids are learning things so young that they shouldn't learn until they're much older.

that is sad on several levels --that girl has probably been exposed to WAY more then she should at her young age. I am so glad my kids are all raised now --it keeps getting harder I think every year to raise our youth. But I worry for my grandkids and the challenges my kids will have in raising them. Teach, talk, and share ---that is my motto.

I am soooo far behind! Been way busy this week and missed all the juicy happenings! good on you for nipping it in the bud!

The world is scary out there...my little guy got his pants pulled down the first day on the bus when he was in kindergarten by a 4th grader---who wanted to see his "pee-pee". Imagine the trauma and therapy that will be needed for my poor little guy!
(they wouldn't let me know who the boy was---and he was banned from the bus for only a week!! ARRgghh!)

I have no words - other people said it better but I wanted to give you some comment support!

It's so scary to think what our babies are being exposed to out there in the big, bad world. The only thing you can do is exactly what you did....protect him the best you can, communicate with him and the school, and love him.

Makes me wonder what is (or has) going on in this little girl's life to make her think that this type of behavior is acceptable.

Ain't gonna lie, that George is a cutie, but 4th and 5th grade is a bit early.

I'm so glad that she had to apologize to George and that the principal is taking this seriously.

I am impressed. It really sounds like they are doing a good job handling the whole issue.

You know what? I kind of feel bad for this girl. I mean, where is all of this aggression and attention-getting behavior coming from?
