But I digress...
The kids love it. It was Jilli's first year. She's come down with me to watch the other kids in the past so she was pretty stoked about it. I always try to give the kids some advice, I wouldn't call it coaching, but advice on how to run these. I don't know why. They never really listen.
I'm posting pictures. So move along if you don't want to look.
And they're off!! Jilli rocked the 70's shorts and braids.
I love the look on her face in this one. They ran half a lap.
She was one of the last to come through but she finished hard.
Oh and she doesn't really go to school with faceless children.
(although that would make for a more interesting blog tidbit)
I've blurred their faces because I don't want some mom
coming after me for posting photos of her kid without permission.
I love this shot. At first I was mad because I missed her.
I missed MOST of her.
I captured her swiftness with the shot of
her braids flying and
her cute patootie.
Man that half a lap was HARD!
But she's all smiles.
George setting off. His class ran two laps. I tried to advise
him to start out fairly slow and then build up and sprint at the end.
Unfortunately he got a cramp about 3/4 of the way through the first lap.
But he finished! Way to go George!!
McKenna decided not to run this year. I fear that my attitude towards running has infected her. She and her friends cheered the runners on.
Go runners!

I am so with you on the Fun Run oxymoron. But I'm glad she had fun!
ha ha, jilli looks so cute. she is getting so skinny, and growing up. I loved her braids and 70s shorts. Man, I need to adopt that style.
See, I'm weird but I think it looks fun. I just feel bad for the ones that coe in last (especially when it is my son).
I remember my dad's amazing advice after the races.... "You could have really won that if you would have just ran faster!"
....wow, ya think?
What a good idea to do different laps for the grades. My daughters school did a 5k and kindergarten couldn't participate. Pishaw.
What cute kiddos to rock the race!
Yay for them!
I hate to run. Really. I would rather die.
Fun and run should NEVER be used in the same sentance. WHen I run the only thing that happens is I end up wth two black eyes and sore boobs!!
Exactly. Running will never be fun to me. I do it about once or twice a week on my treadmill and have yet to experience that euphoric feeling avid runners talk about. The only thing I'm thinking when I do it is "I hate running. Why am I doing this?" over and over again.
Oh yes, I am with you on the fun run part. I actually like running more than I did in school. I was like BACK of the PACK!
It makes my heart SING to see kids running (big surprise).
Oh my heck. So Freakin' CUTE!!!!! She's adorable.
So Avery comes home that day and said that she ended up doing the (not) fun run. Mr. Nelson said for all the 2nd grade girls to line up. Well, obviously he meant all the 2nd grade girls that SIGNED UP to run. But Avery thought he meant ALL of them. So she does the race. One lap around the track. And she came in DEAD LAST. Yep. L. A. S. T.
Too freakin' funny. I would have loved to see her and those DARLING kindergarteners! Are you gonna post dance fest pix?
They are rockstars!!
WAY TO GO!
None of my kids ever did that. I love the shot where she is running to fast to catch anything but her butt and flying braid.
I'm with Melissa...heart singing! See, running is fun!
