A Body in Motion

Is not a phrase I would have used to describe me...

But that's all in the past. I have started the C25K program and have been doing it now for almost three weeks.

I started it because a friend of mine asked if I wanted to join her team in doing The Dirty Dash. At first when she asked me I told her "The only time I run is away from a fire." But then I thought about it and running in mud, laughing and going over obstacles while slipping and sliding around sounded like something that could be fun. So I signed up.

I did inform my friend that if I died a dirty death it would be upon her head. So with fear of my possible impending demise she agreed to help me train. So far there has only been one HORRIBLE day and that was because she upped the ante on the workout REALLY high without realizing it.

I survived that horrible day and today I was able to actually speak words whilst running at a semi decent clip (okay maybe semi decent is a bit of a stretch but I'm looking on the positive side of things here!)

So right now I'm only running for around 3 minutes straight but hey....from a body NOT in motion to that is pretty good.

And you know that saying "A body in motion tends to stay in motion" I'm hoping that's the case with mine.

Wish me luck.

Is this like the Ragnar? Oh wait, looked it up. Actually looks fun. Maybe I'll do it this year. Good luck with the training.

Hey-are you doing the one on June 4th? Cuz I am, too! I can't wait. Normally I don't love races, but I am a fan of mud and I think this will be awesome! Hopefully I'll see you there:)

The dirty dash is soooo much fun. I have been running for years now, but still remember the difficulty of getting in motion. All of the little victories and milestones helped to counteract the discomfort. Hope you continue to enjoy a body in motion.

And every bit of training will be worth it!

You rock. It's too bad your "trainer" is trying to kill you off by not looking at the program before runs. Again.

I would love to participate in something like that, and have a FRIEND encouraging you along the way.

Way to go! I am not a runner any more due to my knees, but I admire those who can and DO. Keep it up. :)

Stick with it, girlfriend! I tried C2k, too, but decided running just isn't my thing. So I've started doing Zumba instead and even though my butt is twice as big as instructor's, I still love it.
