Love and Service

I'm in the middle of reading a book called Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. I had just picked it up to read some more of it this night and not two minutes into reading came across this passage, fell in love and had to share.

"You see rank and distinction; you try to order the world so that everything has a place either above you or beneath you. To a Seon, there is no above or beneath, there are only those we love. And we serve those we love."
(italics added by me)

Seriously? I love that.
As a person whose Love Language is Acts of Service? There could be no truer statement.
I think I'll print it out and hang it somewhere I can see it.

Now...back to the book

that quote reminds me of my dad. he's not a man of words, he's a man of acts.
i knew exactly what it meant when he'd take my car for an oil change and vacuum it out.

I guess we all too often do compare ourselves to others and think of them as being better or worse than ourselves.

I started a post on a topic like this and wrote a bit more on it the other day. I should publish that literary masterpiece soon.
