Has pulling out a sofa bed ever made you cry?

Yeah? Me too.*

I cried because it was so full of yucky stuff. Like lint and candy wrappers. Of course no one else has sofa sleepers that look like this. They are all pristine and clean and wonderful. And they all look like this.

It's just me and my dirty house. I know it.

I'm a crappy housekeeper. I don't pull out the sofa bed once a week and vacuum it and make sure it's nice and clean.

Never mind that I've been dealing (or not dealing) with feelings of depression.
Never mind that I've got my kitchen torn apart and it's thrown up in my living room.
Never mind that my dryer is not working and it's been raining every single day for a week straight here so I can't hang anything out so I have to take laundry over to my mom's house to dry therefore making me WAY behind on keeping up with my nemesis.
Never mind that my husband was out of town for ten days so I was flying solo during that time.

My sofa sleeper is filthy and because of that an evil little voice in my head then begins to tell me that I'm a bad housekeeper which in turn makes me a bad mother and a bad wife.

It also tells me that I will never get the kitchen finished and my house will continue to be a disaster.

And it says that the three extra boys that I pulled the couch out for will SO be telling their parents that "When Aunt Shanna pulled the bed out there was all this yucky stuff on it and she had to vacuum it off. It was gross!"

Thus the tears.

Thankfully I was able to hold them back until the kids were tucked in and Ty and I were in bed. Otherwise those three extra boys would not only be telling their parents that we have a gross hide-a-bed but that "Aunt Shanna totally started to cry and lost it when she pulled the sofa bed out. I think she may be crazy."

Stoopid, evil, voice of discouragement..

"SHUT THE FREAK UP!!!!"

*Oh and if pulling out a sofa bed has never made you cry can you just pretend that it has? Thanks so much.

Shan, you pulled the bed out for boys. They probably didn't even notice the extras that came out with the mattress. They're boys.

((Hugs))

Seriously--I highly doubt they even noticed. And for the record--my couch is full of crap right at this very minute. I haven't vacuumed inbetween the cushions for months and months. Does that make you feel any better?! I hope so because you ROCK Shanna!!

I wouldn't have even noticed or cared!

{{HUG!!!}}

I find gross disgusting stuff in the cracks of my couch on a very regular basis... so you are not the only one!

I don't think anyone can keep anything clean during a remodel.. it is impossible so don't feel bad!

I posted not to long ago, as the dirtiest couch keeper ever. This is funny to me.

Hey, I think I was able to buy a new tv with the money I found in one of our couches. It's the best bank.

Sofa beds, pulling couch cushions, moving entertainment centers, crawling under beds and opening closets...it ALL makes me cry.

I wouldn't give it a second thought. $20 says those boys thought the whole 'vacuum the bed bit' was super cool. Boys are weird like that!

Well, I don't own a sofa bed, but if I did, I'd probably cry. I have cried when I've pulled out the fridge or the stove. I've cried when I have moved the couch. Yeah. Only people with OCD actually clean their couch cushions on a regular basis. You're perfectly normal.

I shudder to think what is hiding under my couch cushions right now. Whatever is there, I know it's scary.

I feel your pain. Well not exactly... but those STUPID voices are awful and they really do need to shut the crap up!!

Erin said...

Oh Shanna, you sound so frustrated! Does anyone actually ever vacuum out a sofa bed until they need it? I have heard somewhere that people can find dollars worth of change in their couches at any given time.

I really hope you can get your dryer working, and your kitchen fixed, and your house under control again.

boys never notice messes. somehow the boys i live with don't notice when there are food wrappers and dishes covering the kitchen counters.

i don't get it! i can't even sleep well knowing that the kitchen isn't spotless. oh, the guilt.

Maybe they thought it was a full service sofa bed, ya know, snack before sleep! Works for me!! Hope your day goes better.

Rachel Sue said...

At least it wasn't full of dead spiders! (You never want that. Ever. Trust me.) Although, the boys would have probably thought the spiders were cool. . .

Brittany Marie said...

As long as you didn't discover any dead bugs in that sofa bed, I say, no worries. LOL

While pulling out the sofa bed... no (you have to have one for that to happen). While cleaning the dishes, bathroom, laundry, vacuuming, etc. YES!

I haven't cried about the sofa bed...but that's probably only because we don't have one. And if we did, I am sure it would look like yours! And if I had to guess, I think that those 3 boys have long since forgotten about the mess and will never remember to tell their parents--they're boys after all!

We don't have a sofa bed and I'm thinking we probably shouldn't because I'm not a big sofa vacuumer as it is. It's hard when a kitchen is under construction....it effects every room in the house! And I would know since we're still doing the finishing touches on our kitchen remodel. It doesn't make you a bad mom or wife. We all feel this way sometimes because we are all painfully human. I really hope things start getting better for you soon.

It sounds like that sofa bed is the straw that broke the camel's back. you've had a lot on your plate!
You should sit down, relax, and eat some chocolate.
We're here for you!!

ha ha ha...I just laugh and laugh. I love that you cried...not because you were sad, but because i would do the same.

Shanna- you are an awesome mom and woman. You amaze me with everything you do- you are always doing things for others, that's what the kids and people will remember, not the things you notice. (thank heavens) Hang in there, we all love you.

If I had a sofa bed, it would make me cry.

(And ten days flying solo is enough to put ANYONE on edge.)

You can come sleep on my floor any time you want to, beb.

i think something is going around. i haven't cried so much as i have this past week. i feel like someone took my body over with this giant ball of depression that makes me constantly contradict myself and judge everything I've ever done or ever will do. so i hear ya on this. just so you know i think you're a great mom. and my inspiration on what i hope to be someday.

Luckily I don't have a sofa bed, or else it would completely filthy.
I'd probably wind up crying too.

Shanna, Cut yourself some slack already! Nobody pulls out their sofa bed weekly to make sure it's clean unless they have over the top debilitating OCD! Children always seem to think that inside the couch cushions, or under the couch, is a perfectly acceptable trash disposal site. I pulled my couch out of it's normal spot for a long overdue carpet cleaning, and found enough candy wrappers to recycle into a book! So I know how you feel. Just remember, little boys don't care about messes. They probably didn't think anything of it. If they did, it was probably to feel a bit guilty about the junk they had stuffed into their couches at home!

I shudder to think what our pull out bed would look like if i pulled it out. It hasn't been pulled out in like 3 years....ughhhhh.

If it makes you happy our kitchen is thrown up not just in our tv room but also our living room, and will be there forever as that is how long the floor is taking. Plus NOW my Mom says, hey this would be a great time to finally paint the kitchen! I MISS the kitchen table, how sad is that!?!

(((hugs))) I haven't cried over a pull-out bed, but I have cried over a dirty toilet. So you aren't alone.

Olivia Carter said...

We don't have a pull out sofa- I wish! But I have cried over un-vacuumed floors. I HATE dirty floors and I feel terrible when they are all crumbly and gross.

Here's when I cry. When I open my laundry room and trip over the shoe pile.
When I open my kids closets or drawers.....when I look at my laundry baskets...when I see the piles of clutters on my counters..

every day

mCat said...

I just have to sit on my bed and look at the clutter and I cry.

And for the record, those boys should be grateful that Aunt Shanna even let them sleep over, let alone on the sofa bed and not the floor.....

Ah Shanna! Yes it may have been dirty, but did you find any money in it? Having a dirty couch is the only way it will produce money! Hopefully you can get a nice, big, cold Diet Coke thanks to your dirty couch. See, it's a good thing.

My friend one time cleaned out her sofa and found a dead, squished mouse. True Story.

I've been battling my crazylady, Estelle too. We should go have fries the next time she rears her ugly little head!

Hugs to you.
