A nasty one. My kids were playing on it when a lovely pop up came on the screen saying "Your computer is may be infected with a virus press 'Scan Now' to check and make sure that it is safe"
You and I both know pressing "Scan Now" is how the virus gets started on the computer.
My 7 and 11 year old? Not so much.
My husband has been working on it for the past week while I've been away at girls camp. It's still not up and running. It's a NASTY, NASTY virus.
So I'm not sure how much I'll be around in the next little while. Because I have to share my kids computer.
I have over 2000 pictures on my camera that need to be uploaded. GAH!
So say a Little Prayer for me.

I had a sixth grader do that once. I ended up having to reformat the hard drive and start all over.
I'm not saying that that will happen here. You might want to try downloading Avast and running a 'startup' scan. This option worked for me on several occasions before I bought a Mac.
I wondered where you went!
My laptop fell victim to the "Scan Now" scam. I was able to get it up and running again..by starting it in safe mode and running a program called Malwarebytes.
Good luck! Virus' are NO fun!
Gah! No! We've been through that--and it's those times when I'm exceedingly glad the hubs knows computers so well. If not, we'd be sunk. Good luck!
That sucks!!! Hpoe it gets better soon.
Worst thing ever! We too had to reformat the hard drive and I lost data.
Fingers crossed that you don;t have to and that husband will get it fixed asap
viruses suck!! That is one of my favorite movies!!!
Oh dear me!! I hope you get/got it all straightened out. The internet is a frightening place when you think about how much there is out there trying to beat its way into your computer!
I feel your pain - we got something on our laptop when we were on our trip. IT SUCKED!!
I hope you are all better ;)
