Just when I think that I've got nothing to blog about so I should just go on hiatus for a while

  • I get an email from a nationally syndicated talk show wanting to talk to me about this post. Pretty crazy. I don't want to say too much here on the blog because I don't know exactly what's going on but I did talk to a producer of said show for a short time tonight and "supposedly" will be getting a call back. We shall see.
  • I did not get the job as a scrapbook artist. Yes I was (am) bummed out about it. I'm still deciding if I want to try to get a different job elsewhere. I'm not really sure about being able to take a whole lot of rejection...which I am pretty sure would be coming my way. What with me not having been in the work force for 15 years and all.
  • I have been sick for the last while. Not the flu but a bad enough cold/virus that all I have wanted to do is sleep. I'm finally feeling up to giving my blog it's Christmas make-over.
  • Since all I've pretty much done is sleep I haven't been reading or commenting on blogs. Forgive me?
  • I need to remember that things effect my oldest son differently than my other kids. We were almost in an accident on the freeway tonight and I'm pretty sure he thought we were going to die. He got very stressed out about it. Poor kid.
  • I have pretty much no Christmas shopping done so I will probably be absent from blogland for another little while.
  • Thanks for sticking with me.

Um that is the coolest thing ever! Why don't I get contacted with cool things? Oh yeah, wait, I have the word "boob" in my name, so I just get the weirdos.

Oooh, how exciting! You rock. Also, did I tell you this? For a Feminist Legal Theory class last semester I wrote a paper on re-entering the workforce ("on-ramping and off-ramping") and most of the literature says the main barrier is not skills but CONFIDENCE and that people too often feel like they should apologize for being out of the workforce. You rock and you haven't been in a coma for 15 years; you've been developing valuable skills for 15 years.

You can do it.

A blog is not your life. When you feel up to it and come back, it'll be there.

So will we.

I think it's awesome they contacted you. Again, if you don't feel comfortable punching He Who Shall Not Be Named in the head, what about a kick to the groin?

So glad you are back for at least one post! I was beginning to worry about you! Very exciting about the contact!!! Excited to see what happens! Sorry about the job, I had an experience like that once. I just wasn't confident enough in myself back then. If I tried for it today I think I would totaly rock it!! Much more confidence in myself now!

Sorry you have been sick! And sorry you didn't get the job. I'm sure that is disheartening.

It will be interesting to see what happens next with the talk show...

Oh congrats and please do let us know what happens with the talk show!

Don't worry we will all still be around.. this is just a crazy time of year.

I'm so sorry you didn't get the job. I have a few friends who work in that industry and it is NASTY! You may be glad long term because you wouldn't believe how low and competitive women become with stuff like that.

Now I've got to go read that post you were contacted about. How exciting!

Sounds like you and I are going through some similar things right now. I just did a post about my insecurities in pursuing my work goals after being at home all this time. It's scary out there!

I remember when I talked to Dave Ramsey on his TV show- by phone.... I e-mailed, they e-mailed, then they called me, then they got pictures of me and my family. I was in heaven, I love DAVE!!!

I am happy for you. For the record let me say, I really like Dr Phil usually. I have his book Family First and it has really inspired me. Please keep us posted!! Best of luck!

Fingers crossed for the call back.

No shopping here either.

And the oldest kids do seem to be a little more sensitive to stuff than the others......

Get feeling better!!

I'm excited to hear the outcome of that phonecall. Even though Kristina wants you to punch him in the head.

Sorry you've been sick. I think I'm done blogging every other week. Some weeks it's hard.

Good luck with the Christmas shopping. I'm taking stock tomorrow but I think I may be done for my fam. Now just to find things for my parents.

So cool about the talkshow!

So cool about the talk show. The world definitely needs more moms like you. I am friends w/ two women who are advisors for college students and you would not believe the stories they tell about parents who "overparent" and will not accept the fact that their kids (kids meaning college students) need to do things on their own and take responsiblity for their own actions. One friend has to deal with parents who are irate because the sorority their daughter wanted didn't accept her! Seriously!
Anyway, good luck with everything.

When you get all big and famous as a TV parenting expert, please remember us little people. :)

Dude, you really have been sick for a long time! Dang it! I love the new look here. You're so clever. Did you do it?

Just SO...CUTE!!!

Love ya!

I am sort of kind of blog hopping tonight and I was just at a post where the author said she doesn't buy anything without checking here first : ) or something like that. So I came over to say hi! I hope everything goes well with your interview! That is SO exciting!

Omgirl said...

What scrapbook company did you interview with to be an artist? I hope it wasn't Stamp N Up. My is aunt head artist for them and I coulda put in a good word for you!
