(I'm just going to jump back in here and pretend I haven't been neglecting this blog. Play along with me mmmkay?)
This morning the kids were milling around the kitchen, as I was cooking pancakes for breakfast. George was looking at something and said "Hey this is made in Japan!" So what was the first thing that pops into my head.
Why this of course...
Turning Japanese <-----------Click on that link to watch the video on YouTube. It's worth it just to watch the lead singer swing a sword around.
I started singing it and my kids thought I had lost it.
Then I kept thinking that there was a song called "Made in Japan" but I couldn't think of the tune for the life of me.
Uh...that would be because the song was called "BIG in Japan" by Alphaville.
BTW I did not realize how creep-tastic the lead singer for Aphaville was until I watched this video.
Just another morning in the O. household.

My kids know Turning Japanese because Guitar Hero & the Alphaville lead singer is indeed very creeptastic. Happy New Year!
Creepy, indeed!
Happy New Year, Shanna!
I now have that song stuck in my head. THANKS.
Yes, there are many times my kids make me feel VERY OLD!
To think they will never know what a VCR is, or that cameras didn't always come with a LCD screen at the back. EXAMPLE: *click* you take a picture. The child, "can I have a look!" and runs up to you to see the photo in the LCD.
*sigh* remember the days when we couldn't see our photos till months later?!? Or never see them cause we never got around to developing them! whoops!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I have to admit I still like alphaville alot! sigh, I am so pathetic!
I showed my son the peanut butter commercial. He thought it was sooooo weird!
Now I'll have Turning Japanese in my head all day...
Happy New Year!!
What flashbacks Turning Japanese brings!!
I didn't even watch the video and now I'll have that song stuck in my head all night.
Sigh.
Thanks for the tune rattling around in my brain now!
It is your sworn duty to teach them a love of bad 80's music! I also thought that song was 'MADE in Japan'. Shows what I know.
Oh, yes, I have been known to sing this one before---but then my young son is always chastising me for singing about EVERYTHING that he mentions to me----heh, heh....
Okay, I've never listened to this song before, and I've never seen the lead singer of Alphaville. Through the whole thing I kept thinking that I knew him from somewhere and realized that he looks an awful lot like a student I had four years ago...after that, the video was even odder than it had been at the outset.
I always mess up the words...
and yes holidays are hard time for blogging.. I have been doing it still but only to do it... gotta really get back into it again.
Isn't it funny the randomness that pops into your head sometimes. Funny stuff!
Holy techno-mom pants on the poor guy at 2:18!!
