Just Read...

I just finished up reading the first book in The Mortal Instruments Series

The City of Bones
by Cassandra Clare
If you are into the "supernatural" and demons and stuff it's an okay read. It was a bit confusing because what was supposed to be this huge revelation at the end of the book...well... wasn't. At least not to me. I thought that this was something that had already been determined so I was slightly confused but I didn't want to go back through the book to find out if they had actually revealed this earlier. Even if they didn't the "secret" was pretty obvious to figure out.

Still a quick entertaining read. I've put the second one The City of Ashes on my que at the library.

Up next? It's sitting on my kitchen counter as I type.
(click on the picture if you want to know what it's about) But I probably won't get a chance to start that until sometime next week.

Oh and P.S. I have been trying to read and comment on blogs but my computer has been taken over by an some stupid "Problem Loading Error" page. So when I click over from my Google reader I get that message and if by some miracle your blog does come up then I usually get that message when I click to comment. So know that I am reading and very frustrated because I can't comment they way that I would like. *sigh*

My first family photo shoot

I've wanted to take people's pictures for years. I just haven't had the guts to move forward with it. (I'm my own worst enemy when talking myself out of doing things.)

Friday I had the chance to take some pictures of an adorable family. I knew the dad when he was little and was good friends with his older sister and brother. It was so fun working with them. His wife is beautiful and his daughters are so darn cute! thanks Frank and Ashly for letting me take your pictures.

In the last hour I've....

  • Took two loads of laundry over to my moms. (my dryer is still broken)
  • Picked up some green beans and pressure cooker from my moms.
  • Took the vacuum apart to see if it needed a new belt. (It did. Thankfully I had an extra one on hand.)
  • Took the vacuum bottom off and changed the vacuum belt.
  • Proceeded to vacuum the downstairs living room.
  • Moved computer cord out of the way so that the vacuum wouldn't suck it up.
  • Watched as the vacuum sucked up a corner of a blanket instead.
  • Saw smoke coming from the vacuum.
  • Turned it off as fast as I could. (I was too late)
  • Took the bottom off of the vacuum to remove new broken belt.
  • Drove to the local hardware store in hopes that they would have the vacuum belt. (I like to shop in town and support the little guy when I can)
  • Broke my flip flop as I was walking into said hardware store.
  • Picked up my flip flop and walked with as much dignity as one can wearing only one flip flop into said hardware store.
  • Looked for the correct belt. (they did not have it)
  • Walked back out of the store and through the parking lot with as much dignity as one can wearing only one flip flop .
  • Drove home
  • Blogged it.

Loving Lola

When I entered the Photo Shoot giveaway over at Lola's place I didn't expect to win. I was floored when I did! And very excited.

When Ty and I had our engagement pictures taken it was done by a member of the family who had a "nicer" camera. We do have some pictures from Olan Mills but they were pretty casual. We were both in University of Utah shirts. And we didn't have a professional photographer at the temple or at our reception. That is my one big regret from my wedding day. Other than that it was perfect.

So you can see why I was excited to get my picture taken with my man.

Here are a couple of the shots that she took. I love them. And I love her.

She was so fun to work with! And she made us look good. Bonus.

Thanks Laura!!

20 years

Is about how old I feel but in actuality it's how long I've been out of high school.

Hard to believe I know.

So our class held it's 20 year reunion on August first. I wanted to lose about 50 pounds before then but that didn't happen. And it was okay.

It started out in the afternoon with a barbecue held up behind our high school. It was for families and they had bouncy houses and inflatables and water for the kids. There were hamburgers and hot dogs to munch on and good friends that I hadn't seen for years to talk with.

As we were first walking up to the place Tyran looks at me and says "Do you recognize anyone?" There were people there but I was having a hard time placing names with faces. In fact I had one classmate that came up to me and said "I know you!" and I had to say "I'm sorry you're going to have to tell me your name!" Once she told me her name I could totally see who it was but I felt terrible!! She was at the afternoon barbecue but she didn't come to the dinner later on that night and I hope it wasn't because I was such an idiot.

It was really fun to see everyone and fun to see their kids as well.

Then later that night we had a dinner just for the adults. It was very nice. They had name "tags" that had our pictures from our Senior year along with our names and they hung them around our necks with lovely blue lanyards that had "Vikings" on them. I loved them having our Senior pics so you could look and see how much people had or hadn't changed.

They also had our Class Photo blown up and hanging on the wall. Here are me and Ty pointing out our 20 year younger selves....
That was fabulous seeing all the big hair and the mullets. Sweet.

They had a slide show of pictures from high school and they also had a great live band. Two guys in our class played in it on the drums and the guitar. Very cool.

We stayed around for awhile. We didn't close out the party. There were those that did though and I heard it was much fun but I am old. And we had 9 a.m. church in the morning. Here is a picture that they took from the balcony of everyone that was there. I'm in the blue shirt in the center.

I'm looking forward to the next one in how every many years we have it.
