Too many, too soon

The lapse in blogging is because...

Our family has, to yet again, say goodbye. Or as my darling niece put it "This is see you later....I'm not into goodbyes."

She was talking about her mom. My ex-sister-in-law who died unexpectedly on Friday. She was two years younger than me.

And even though she and my brother were divorced they had managed to stay friends. In fact I saw her in the store a few days before she died and we had a nice little chat. I thanked her for being there for Ben and for being a friend to him.

Kodi had a big heart and was willing and wanted to help out those she loved. My heart breaks for the three kids she leaves behind.

Her oldest just got engaged. She is a strong, beautiful, amazing girl. Who, as she sat waiting for her grandpa to come and drive her home from college after receiving the tragic news, thought to herself, "Well, now mom will be able to be there for my wedding." She will be married in the Salt Lake Temple and her mom wouldn't have been able to be there for the ceremony. She is already planning on going to the temple to do the work for her mom when the time comes.

Kodi will be missed. I know her children are in good hands. They have some of the best grandparents anyone could ask for, my mom being one of them. They have many aunts, uncles and cousins who love them dearly and will be there for them in the years to come.

I am concerned for my brother. This has hit him hard and I'm not really sure what I can do, if anything to ease what he is going through. The future is uncertain. I hope and pray that we don't have to say "See you later" to anyone else for a long, long time.

*edited...I put that she died Saturday but it was Friday so I corrected that.

Wow, what a rough time for your family. I don't know any of you but have been touched by the amount of loss you have endured. It sounds like there is a lot of strength and faith to rely on, I hope that brings each of you peace.

I'm so sorry! What a sad thing to experience. Good for her daughter for that attitude---but still, how heartbreaking!!

I'm sorry for the loss your family is experiencing again.

I am sorry.
This is too soon to say good-bye.
My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.

So sorry to hear this Shanna!

I was just talking to someone the other day who lost her son and she mentioned that many have asked "what can I do" and her response was, "our name being on the prayer roll at the temple is comfort enough".

Just a thought

It really is just too much, too soon. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this again.

Your family will probably be strengthened by this. I hope. Sounds like her kids are going to be ok.

Love you!

I'm so sorry. I'm glad her daughter was able to see some positive in it. Death is always hard, but especially so around the holidays. Hugs and prayers to your family.

I am so sad to hear this. I have been wanting to thank you for coming to MY son's viewing with the gals. I was thrilled beyond belief. It strengthens us to know people care and that we are loved.

I know there is not much anyone can do PHYSICALLY when such a thing happens...except offer a hug and a shoulder to cry on.

Many people told me they'd remember us in their prayers and I KNOW for a certainty that those prayers helped me and my family. There were times I was able to gather up strength that I never thought I'd have. I am sure it was due to those prayers.

I love childrens perspective on things. Matt's son who is 9 kept referring to his dad's death/funeral as the REUNION.
It was a reunion of sorts....a gathering of all of us....and Matt's reunion on the other side.

I'll pray for you and your family.
